Rock Recommendation: Tokyo Police Club

Sometimes a song just is catchy and gets stuck in your head. Then sometimes another song is just as catchy and gets stuck in your head too. Then another. Then you realize… These catchy songs stuck in your head all come from the same artist!

This happened to me with Tokyo Police Club, a cool indie rock band out of Ontario, Canada. First, I heard “Nature of the Experiment.” Then “Cheer It On.” Then “Be Good.” Then I bought their A Lesson In Crime EP. Then I heard “Your English Is Good” and “Tessellate” and bought their first full-length album, Elephant Shell. They continue to impress and I look forward to their next album. Great little guitar riffs, interesting lyrics, fun, upbeat stuff that makes you just want to keep on listening.

They’re playing a couple of shows at the 2010 Winter Olympics in February and will be making an appearance on the second day at Coachella, which I will definitely be attending. I liked the Coachella lineup at first glance and was on the fence about making the trip, but when I saw that Tokyo Police Club was playing, that sealed the deal! Whether you see them live, download some singles, or buy an album, definitely check them out.
