Soul Recommendation: Fitz & the Tantrums

Since it may be a few weeks before CTRL-ALT-JNU hits the airwaves again, I thought I’d give you something to listen to in the meantime: Fitz & the Tantrums.

Fitz & the Tantrums

If you haven’t caught Fitz & the Tantrums yet, start iTunes right now, go to the store, search for them, and click BUY!

They are a rockin’ soul group out of LA and, well, they rock. I heard “MoneyGrabber” and it was catchy enough that it made me curious about their other material. After sampling and purchasing both their debut EP “Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1″ and their full-length “Pickin’ Up the Pieces,” I’m totally hooked.

They’ve got a great, soulful sound, helped along by tag team vocals and a few horns, but they’ve also got a groovy, driving rock undertone that sets them apart. Both albums are very listenable from start to finish. I’m definitely looking forward to more from them.
